American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA)
Contains information on continuing education programs and legislative activities along with patient education fact sheets, an occupational therapist directory, and other resources for health professionals, students, and consumers.

American Psychological Association (APA)
Includes resources for health professionals, educators, and parents about child, adolescent, and family mental health.

American Public Health Association (APHA)
Includes fact sheets, policy statements, legislative information, and news releases about public health issues, including maternal and child health and reducing racial and ethnic disparities in health; also provides a Community Solutions to Health Disparities database.

American School Health Association (ASHA)
Describes an optimal school health program and offers information about its membership, conferences, and publications.

Association of Maternal and Child Health Programs (AMCHP)
Offers fact sheets, issue briefs, reports, and legislative information on maternal and child health topics.

Association of Schools of Public Health (ASPH)
Offers links to employment and training resources, program information and case studies, and publications. Also provides a definition of public health and a list of currently accredited schools of publich health.

Association of State and Territorial Health Officials (ASTHO)
Provides program information, publications, and other resources for public health professionals on topics such as access to health care, immunizations, evidence-based practices, and environmental health.

CityMatCH
Provides newsletters, issue briefs, data reports, conference and program information, and other resources about urban maternal and child health (MCH) issues. Initiatives include the Perinatal Periods of Risk (PPOR) collaborative and perinatal HIV prevention program. CityMatCH is a national membership organization for city and county health departments' MCH programs and leaders representing urban communities in the United States.

National Academy for State Health Policy (NASHP)
Provides program, research, and conference information; publications; and news about state health policy and practice. Children's health insurance, early childhood health and development, and foster care are among the topics addressed. NASHP is a forum of and for state health policy leaders.

National Association of County and City Health Officials (NACCHO)
Offers program information, publications, assessment tools, and other resources for local public health officials on topics such as children's environmental health and reducing the problem of health disparities in the United States.

National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners (NAPNAP)
Contains resources for pediatric nurse practitioners including access to a catalog of professional and patient education materials, links to on-line continuing education courses, access to funding opportunities, information on current federal legislative issues affecting children's health, and links to children's health advocacy groups.

National Association of School Nurses (NASN)
Includes information about continuing education programs and legislative activities as well as issue briefs, position statements, and other publications about school nursing and the provision of school health services.

National Conference of State Legislatures (NCSL)
Contains state legislative information, policy analysis, publications, and news about current state legislative issues that include maternal and child health.

National Governors Association (NGA)
Offers state and federal legislative news and policy analysis on issues affecting states. Provides issue briefs and other publications on maternal and child health topics including child and adolescent health insurance and access to care, oral health, and obesity prevention.

National Perinatal Association (NPA)
Offers an online compendium of models of care for community-based, regional, and national perinatal health care programs. Also includes an online journal, newsletter, and links to other perinatal health resources.

National School Boards Association (NSBA)
Contains resources for education professionals and policymakers on topics that include school health programs. Offers a database of sample policies, journal articles, program descriptions, and other materials that address the many health issues facing local school districts, such as HIV/AIDS, adolescent pregnancy prevention, nutrition, physical activity, and tobacco use prevention.

National WIC Association (NWA)
Contains information about the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC). Also includes legislative, regulatory, and funding news impacting WIC and conference and training information about nutrition, breastfeeding, advocacy, and management skills building.

NGA Online
Describes the efforts of the National Governors' Association (NGA) to improve health care in the states. Includes issue briefs, policy positions, legislative news, and model program information on child and adolescent health issues such as health insurance and access to care, oral health, and obesity prevention.

School Nutrition Association (ASFSA)
Contains information about federal child nutrition programs, food safety, meal pattern requirements, nutrition education information for teachers, information about starting a nutrition advisory council in schools, and food topics in the news.

Society for Adolescent Medicine (SAM)
Resources for professionals include position papers, position statements, a list service, continuing education classes, and annual conferences. Information for parents and adolescents include tip sheets on a variety of adolescent health issues and resources on responding to crisis situations.

Society for Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics (SDBP)
Information for pediatric health professionals on workshops, scientific meetings, and research opportunities in the field of behavioral and developmental pediatrics. Includes links to a Residency Training Curriculum sponsored by the Maternal and Child Health Bureau, professional list services, and a journal. Resources for parents include links to information and organizations dealing with a variety of behavioral and developmental issues such as helping children cope with tragedy, helping children exposed to violence, and helping children with language delays.

These links have been evaluated for the usefulness, reliability, and timeliness of the maternal and child health (MCH) information they present, and the ease with which visitors can access information and navigate in them. This list is not intended to be comprehensive; rather, it offers a sample of quality sites that are useful starting points for those interested in MCH topics.
